20 for 20 - Hope Builders – Enhancing Lives Through Accessibility Since 2002
At Clockwork, we believe in giving back to the community and making a difference where it matters most. To show our dedication, we launched our 20 for 20 campaign, where we selected 20 non-profits to support in celebration of our 20th anniversary this year.
Last week, we teamed up with Hope Builders. Since its founding in 2000, Hope Builders has been dedicated to supporting older adults and individuals with disabilities, making meaningful improvements to their daily lives. Clockwork recently partnered with Hope Builders to bring accessibility to one Kansas City resident’s home. Even basic tasks, like reaching one’s front door, can become challenging without proper accommodations. By constructing an accessible ramp, Hope Builders and Clockwork helped create a safer, more inclusive environment, enhancing the homeowner's independence.
Clockwork’s team embraced the opportunity to dig, cut, and assemble, transforming the entrance with a new, spacious front porch and an accessible ramp. The project utilized donated materials and the expert guidance of Hope Builders' leaders, who directed the team through each stage of construction. Together, we not only built a structure but also provided peace of mind for a member of the community. With hands-on efforts like these, Hope Builders continues to promote safe, accessible, and healthy homes in Kansas City, building stronger communities one ramp at a time.
Volunteering with Hope Builders requires no prior construction experience. All you need is a willingness to help, and the team will teach you everything necessary to build a sturdy, accessible ramp. They’ll provide the tools, guidance, and support to make the project a success. These ramps, though technically "temporary" structures, are built to withstand Kansas City’s unpredictable weather and offer reliable, safe accessibility for years.
Ramps are just one of the many services Hope Builders offers. They also help with door widening, bathroom modifications, and a variety of home adjustments tailored to support individuals’ unique mobility needs. By addressing each homeowner’s specific challenges, they create spaces where people can live more safely and comfortably.
